Albert Einstein
A timeline
Albert Einstein is one of the most influential scientists of all time. He developed the theory of relativity, and his "E = mc2" equation is known as the most famous equation in history.
A timeline of his life
- March 14, 1879 Albert Einstein is born.
- 1885 He attends school.
- 1894 Albert's family moves to Milan.
- 1895 He attends school in Aarau, Switzerland.
- 1901 Albert Einstein becomes a Swiss citizen.
- 1902 Begins work in a patent office.
- 1903 Albert is married to Mileva Maric.
- 1904 His son is born. Albert names him Hans Albert.
- 1909-1910 He stops working at the patent office. His second son is born.
- 1914-1915 Becomes a lecturer of theoretical physics at the Federal Technological Institute in Zurich, Germany. Also begins publishing his works on the theory of relativity.
- 1917 He becomes director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute of Physics in Berlin, Germany.
- 1919 A solar eclipse occurs and proves Einstein's theory on deflection of light to be true. He becomes famous for this discovery.
- 1922 Awarded the Nobel Prize for physics.
- 1933 Einstein moves to Princeton, NJ due to the rise of antisemetism in Germany.
- 1939-1940 Einstein warns president Roosevelt of Germany's research to create an atom bomb. Einstein becomes a US citizen.
- 1946 Becomes chairman of the Committe of Atomic Scientists.
- 1952 Is given an offer to become president of Israel, he declines the offer.
- April 18, 1955 Einstein dies due to a burst aortic aneurysm.
